Eight colors, four combinations, one statement

The Gradient Edition brings together eight colors in four harmonious and expressive combinations. The Drehgriffel of the Gradient Edition is a ballpoint pen (Nr. 1) crafted from precision-milled aluminium and brass. It features a spring-loaded twist mechanism for your writing pleasure. The replaceable large-capacity refill has a medium line width and writes in black ink. With its hexagonal silhouette, tapered tip and special lacquer finish, the Drehgriffel of the Gradient Edition is a striking statement.

The name of this design edition refers to the pen’s special lacquer finish. The color progression is sprayed by hand and subsequently sealed with a clear protective coat. This process gives these writing instruments their unique look, as no two pens are alike: each Drehgriffel is unique!

About Drehgriffel

Dreh – Griffel: a wordmark and play on words. The design of the ‘Drehgriffel’ wordmark stems from ‘Sütterlin’, a style of lettering developed in Germany during the 1920s to teach handwriting. The deliberate disparity between the wordmark’s old German style creates a playful contrast to the modern design. The German compound word Drehgriffel, which is made up of the two parts Dreh (to twist or turn in reference to the innovative twist mechanism) and Griffel (a nod to the oldest writing utensil in the world from the Greek grapheion), clearly reflects the deep roots of the traditional German company LEUCHTTURM1917. It is certainly no coincidence that the birth of the Drehgriffel and the foundation of Leuchtturm Album Publishing House both date back to the 1920s.
