Drehgriffel Nr. 2 – a mechanical pencil with twist mechanism

Made of aluminum, the Drehgriffel Nr. 2 pencil is comfortable to hold and is ideal for writing or other creative uses, such as drawing or sketching. Its lacquered brass tip provides a balanced weight for maximum comfort when writing. In contrast to the Drehgriffel Nr. 1, the fine tip is made of steel, creating a harmonious transition to the 0.7-mm graphite lead. The graphite color of the distinctive tip and twist button highlights the function and character of Nr. 2.

The black barrel is made of lacquered aluminium that has been sandblasted. This provides a slightly grainy, matt surface with a pleasant grip. The logo on the mid-section stands out discreetly against the glossy black lacquer background. The lightning bolt engraved in the twist head is the distinctive mark of the international Bullet Journal® community.

New and yet a classic: The Drehgriffel Nr. 2

Dreh – Griffel: a wordmark and play on words. The design of the ‘Drehgriffel’ wordmark stems from ‘Sütterlin’, a style of lettering developed in Germany during the 1920s to teach handwriting. The deliberate disparity between the wordmark’s old German style creates a playful contrast to the modern design. The German compound word Drehgriffel, which is made up of the two parts Dreh (to twist or turn in reference to the innovative twist mechanism) and Griffel (a nod to the oldest writing utensil in the world from the Greek grapheion), clearly reflects the deep roots of the traditional German company LEUCHTTURM1917. It is certainly no coincidence that the birth of the Drehgriffel and the foundation of Leuchtturm Album Publishing House both date back to the 1920s.
